Kinzua Bridge State Park, a 329-acre park snuggled within Allegheny National Forest, houses just what might be the gem of the forest: Kinzua Sky Walk. Walk along the more than 600 foot sky walk and, at the end, look straight down through the glass floor to the forest 300 feet below.

Lace up your hiking boots at Hickory Creek Wilderness Area. The forested area, pictured below blanketed in fog, features the 12 mile loop Hickory Creek Trail. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including turkey, bears, and deer.

The enchanting state forest also boasts a network of day and overnight trails ideal for hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, and mountain biking. Other popular seasonal activities include ice skating, fishing, and picnicking.

Horseback riders, welcome throughout much of the forest, can also embark on the 40 mile Spring House Horse Trail. Bringing your horse? You and she can also camp out overnight at the horse-friendly Kelly Pines Campground.

Pitch a tent and stay in the park for a night, or two, or more. Or, rent a cabin. RV spots are also available at a number of points in the forest, including Loleta Recreation Area, Dewdrop Campground, and Willow Bay Recreation Area.
