While it’s extremely unfortunate that most Washingtonians are stuck indoors instead of enjoying the final days of summer, we are lucky to have an incredible team of firefighters and volunteers working tirelessly to combat our state’s wildfires. And with any luck, we will soon be enjoying a normal and beautiful autumn.

Fall is a fabulous time to hike in the Pacific Northwest, especially in areas with a lot of foliage. If you only have time for one good hike this fall, and you’re up for a challenge, make it the Copper Glance Lake Trail.

Note: This trail is currently closed due to the wildfires in the area, but we have faith that it will be open again soon.

You’ll find the Copper Glance Lake Trail in the beautiful North Cascades near the town of Winthrop.

Corey Freeman / alltrails.com Follow the North Cascades Highway east, and turn left onto West Chewuch River Road before the town center. You’ll continue north for quite awhile before turning left at Eightmile Ranch onto FR 5130. Eventually, you’ll reach the trail head at a gated road.

The trail is about six miles in length, but it can be challenging.
