Forty Acre Rock Heritage Preserve near Kershaw is absolutely stunning in the springtime.

From there it winds through a thick forest with much to admire on the way to the top of the rock.

Forty Acre Rock isn’t quite 40 acres, but the nearly 14 acres of solid rock make this one of the most unique natural landmarks in the state.

Once on top, in addition to wildflowers, you’ll encounter lichens, mosses, sedum, and endangered pool sprite.
