There are some things everyone thinks of when you think of the Crescent City. For better or worse, we’re known for a lot of things. Here are 8 things that everyone thinks of when they think of New Orleans.

  1. The French Quarter

Wayne Hsieh/Flickr Probably the number one thing that comes to mind when you think of New Orleans. Everyone who visits this city walks around the quarter to see the architecture, the bars, and the restaurants… just not necessarily in that order.

  1. Bourbon Street

Fuzzy Images/Flickr Still part of the French Quarter, but easily our most famous street and the one everyone wants to walk down when they visit.

  1. Streetcars

Ian McKellar/Flickr Fun Fact: the St. Charles line is the oldest continually operated streetcar in the world. It has been in operation since 1835 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

  1. Katrina

  1. The Saints

  1. The Food

Jenna Coy D./Yelp Gumbo, jambalaya, po’boys, beignets… We are known for our food and it’s all delicious.

  1. Mardi Gras

Aaron Fellmeth/Flickr I’d say when you think of Mardi Gras the first two things that pop into your head are Bourbon Street and Mardi Gras.

  1. The Festivals

NOLABiker/Trip Advisor New Orleans knows how to put on a festival. From Jazz Fest to the Fried Chicken Festival, we’re always looking for a reason to have some fun.

  1. Music
