It’s no secret that Montana is a paradise for hikers. And while there are a ton of trails that would qualify for best hikes in the state, we happen to think that our hikes are some of the best on the entire planet. Trek down these trails and see if you agree.
- Grinnell Glacier Trail
Victor DiTommaso / alltrails.com There’s no doubt about it: This Glacier National Park trail is a hiker’s dream come true. The views never stop, and they’re unreal. Just make sure you go early to avoid the crowds (and carry bear spray).
- Emerald Lake Trail
Taylor Higley / alltrails.com This trail is excellent for many reasons, but mainly, it offers an excellent workout with great views. At 8.9 miles, it may not be ideal for beginners, but it’s perfect for anyone who wants a challenging but doable hike. The trail is located near Bozeman.
- Highline Trail
Shawn Mcclain / alltrails.com This is one of Montana’s most classic hikes, and it’s a spectacular trail. It’s 38 miles in its entirety, but you’ll start seeing stunning views almost immediately.
- Hyalite Creek Trail
John Tang / alltrails.com The Hyalite Creek trail takes you on a 12-mile trek to Hyalite Lake. On your way, you’ll see plenty of gorgeous waterfalls, walk through thick coniferous forest, and head up challenging hills.
- Palisade Falls Trail

- Iceberg Lake Trail
