People from Milwaukee have quite the stereotypes tied to them. Whether it be that we drink quite a bit, eat too much dairy, or that we’re a little obsessed with brats, there’s a little truth in all of them. Some stereotypes are just plain wrong, but here are eight of them that we should just swallow our pride and accept as reality.

  1. We’re pretty cheese crazy.

  1. We’re called “Brew City” for a reason.

Gene Han / Flickr With most of the major brewers originating here, it was inevitable. Beer has become a way of life.

  1. Maybe we are a little blue-collar.

David McSpadden / Flickr But that means we’re hard workers!

  1. We actually don’t have beer bellies!

Fabio Hofnik / Flickr Milwaukeeans love to work out and stay fit.

  1. It might not be the 80’s anymore, but we’re still alley cats.

  1. We’re nuts about our brats.

  1. And we’ll all get down to some polka every now and then.

  1. At the end of the day, we’re still the nicest Midwesterners around.
