Minneapolis a pretty great city with a lot going for it. So much, in fact, that people are moving here in droves. But there are only so many lakes, rivers, art events, and concerts to go around. Something has to be done, right? There is one easy solution: next time you hear an out-of-towner waxing poetic about their Minneapolis dreams, remind them of just how awful life can be here.

  1. There are too many lakes.

  1. There’s too much to do and not enough time to do it.

Hafiz Issadeen/Flickr From hiking trails to waterfalls, museums to concert venues, Minneapolis really does have it all. If you’re the type of person who doesn’t want to be tempted by all the fun happening around them, best steer clear of Minneapolis.

  1. Summers are warm - a bit too warm.

jpellgen/Flickr Minnesota’s famed summers do come with a downside: they’re often very hot and very humid. If you thought you’d come to Minneapolis to escape the heat, you might not get what you expected. If you’re a fan of seeing all four distinct seasons, though, you’re in for a treat.

  1. Winters are too brutal.

Rachel Hanes/Flickr Minneapolis winters can be harsh, with bitter cold and blowing snow making it hard for some people to get by… but if you’re willing to look past that (like any true Minneapolitan), the city is overflowing with fun winter activities.

  1. It’s too close to St. Paul.

  1. Minneapolitans are just too nice.

  1. Choosing where to eat is a pain in the neck.

jpellgen/Flickr From high-end dining experiences to comfort food favorites, Minneapolis has a huge array of options to choose from. You’ll find yourself considering every eatery you drive by before finally giving up because you can’t pick one out of all the amazing choices… and you’re still hungry.

  1. Who needs this many breweries?

Conner McCall/Flickr What kind of beer do you crave? It really doesn’t matter. Chances are, you’ll find a brewery that has just what you’re looking for in Minneapolis.

Ok, we admit it… we couldn’t bad mouth Minneapolis even if we tried. This city is amazing, and yet it’s still underrated by outsiders. While we do love to introduce newcomers to life here, it’s still fun to feel like our hometown is a hidden gem.
