If you’ve moved away from Milwaukee, there is an endless list of things to miss. Whether it’s our amazing neighbors, incredible food, or the fact that there’s a celebration every day of the week, it’s impossible to find the feel of MKE anywhere but here. At the end of the day, there’s simply no place like home for a Milwaukeean, but these eight activities will give you a taste of The Good Land.

  1. Find a shore, any shore.

Tim Adamson/Flickr It doesn’t have to be Lake Michigan, but if you can get near the water—and better yet, some brisk air— you can close your eyes and pretend you’re back in MKE.

  1. Brat it up.

THE VANGUARD/Facebook It might be hard to find our beloved bratwurst out and about, but making them at home is just as delicious. Don’t forget all the fixings! If you can, pair it with a Wisconsin brew for the full experience.

  1. Get to your local corner bar and make friends!

Paul Sableman/Flickr Speaking of beer, get up and out to a local bar! It might not be as easy to find as it is in Milwaukee, but they’re out there and you’ll find someone to cheers over a Pabst with you.

  1. Find where the Packer fans hang out.

  1. Stream some Milwaukee radio.

88Nine RadioMilwaukee/Facebook You can find many Milwaukee radio stations online at RadioMilwaukee. Hearing familiar voices and updates about what’s going on in Brew City is always comforting.

  1. Find the nearest cheese curds.

Quinn Dombrowski/Flickr It might take a bit of a journey to accomplish this outside of MKE, but we know you’ll find them!

  1. …and eat your fish on Friday.

Janesville Restaurant Review/Facebook Even though those around you might not understand that this ritual is of utmost importance, but they’ll likely join in and you can get a taste of the glory that is a Friday fish fry.

  1. Rep your hometown with pride!
