Out of all the amazing festivals in New Mexico, the ones in fall are hands-down the best. From pumpkin everything to one-of-a-kind crafts you just can’t find anywhere else, there’s a little something for everyone during New Mexico’s fall festival season. The following festivals are seven of our favorites. See if we’ve featured your favorite one:

  1. El Rancho de las Golondrinas Harvest Festival (Santa Fe)

Rancho de las Golondrinas/Facebook If you have to pick just one fall festival, this is the one. El Rancho de las Golondrinas Harvest Festival was voted the second best harvest festival in the nation by USA Today. Make cider, stomp grapes or make your own corn husk doll. When: Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1. Where: El Rancho de las Golondrinas, at 334 Los Pinos Road, Santa Fe.

  1. Maze Maze (Albuquerque)

Biggynbuck/TripAdvisor In Albuquerque, visit the Rio Grande Community Farm at the Open Space for an 8-acre maze and family activities. This year, if you visit at night time, experience their Color Maze. Here, you navigate the maze with a magic lantern and collect colors of light.

When: The maze will be open every weekend in October. Hours are Friday 1 pm to 10 pm, Saturday 10 am -10 pm, and Sunday 10 am - 7 pm. Where: The Rio Grande Community Farm at 1701 Montaño Road Northwest, in Albuquerque.

  1. Wagner’s Farmland Experience (Corrales)

Wagner Farms/Yelp Wagner’s Farmland Experience has been a New Mexico tradition since 2005. Yep, they have a pumpkin patch, but also a two-mile corn maze, hayrides, and a play area. Plus, visit farmland animal friends at the petting zoo.

When: Everyday, 9 am to 6 pm, September through October. Where: Wagner’s Farmland Experience, 6445 Corrales Road, in Corrales.

  1. Sutherland Farms Market Pumpkin Festival (Aztec)

Sutherland Farms Market/Facebook Sutherland Farms is a family-owned working farm and produce market. They have several farm events throughout the year, but pumpkin-pickers will want to check out the month-long Pumpkin Festival. The $5 admission (for folks 12 and older) includes a corn maze, corn pit, hayride and duck races.

When: Weekends in October, 10 am to 5 pm. Where: Sutherland Farms, 745 Road 2900, eight miles north of Aztec.

  1. Mesilla Valley Maze (Las Cruces)

Jesus Vasquez/Facebook This southern New Mexico attraction is open all of October, but they have two special events: the Fall Festival (October 7th & 8th) and a Pumpkin Festival (October 28 and 29). In addition to a corn maze and more than 30 regular attractions, the special events include live entertainment and contests.

When: Saturdays and Sundays, 11 am to 7 pm. September 30 through October 29. Where: Mesilla Valley Maze, 3855 West Picacho Avenue, Las Cruces.

  1. Graves Farm and Garden (Roswell)

Graves Farm and Garden/Facebook Catch the Farm Festival at Graves Farm (October 14) and get in on things like cow milking, duck races, pumpkin toss, potato pitch, watermelon eating and corn shucking contests, and a zip line. In October, the weekend nighttime hayrides get haunted! Shoot live zombies with paint guns. Needless to say, the Zombie Paintball Shoot Hayride is popular so reservations are recommended. When: Fridays and Saturdays, October 13 through the end of the month. Where: Graves Farm and Garden, 6265 South Graves Road, Roswell.

  1. McCall’s Pumpkin Patch (Moriarty)

McCall’s Pumpkin Patch/Facebook Pick out your Halloween decorations and enjoy a family day out too. At McCall’s, take a hayride to the pumpkin patch, try to find your way through the 16-acre corn maze, race a pedal kart, launch a pumpkin, and feed the farm animals.

When: The Pumpkin Patch will be open September 23 through October 29. Open Saturdays and Sundays, 10 am to 6 pm (with last tickets sold at 4 pm). Where: McCall’s Pumpkin Patch, Abrahames Road, Moriarty.
