The items seem too comical…or sometimes macabre…to be true, but the fact is that people have tried to sneak all sorts of insane things through airport security. Luckily, most have not made it past inspections, because it wouldn’t be funny to be seated next to passengers hiding live tarantulas all over their body or transporting human bones in their carry-on. Here are 6 insane things people have attempted to take through security so far in 2018:
- A peacock
The Jet SetFacebook An airline cried fowl to a passenger’s claim that this bird was an Emotional Support Animal and denied its boarding. To the passenger’s credit, however, a separate ticket was purchased for the bird.
- A drawf hamster
The.Rohit/Flickr The teeny creature made national headlines when its owner attempted to travel with it, and apparently misinformation was provided to the passenger that it was allowed. Reports of telling the owner to simply flush the rodent down the commode haven’t been confirmed, however.
- Narcotics-infused candy
Girl In Air/Facebook This is nothing new, and apparently happens frequently. Luckily, agents carefully screen candy for this very reason. While it is legal to transport good ol’ straight candy, expect delays while your sweet stuff is thoroughly checked out first.
- A pig

- Pointed fidget-spinners
Gaming Toy Not all fidget-spinners are created the same, and ones with sharp, pointed ends simply are not going to be allowed. Is this really a toy, after all?
- A kitten intended for checked-on bagged.

While these bizarre efforts were foiled, there are other impractical, but certainly more mundane, items you should choose to keep at home as well. Here are 5 things you don’t need to include in your carry-on.
