It’s been a tough end to our beautiful Montana summer, but despite our state’s wildfires, there’s still a lot to celebrate with the coming season. Taking yourself to one of our local harvest festivals is a great way to embrace autumn’s arrival.
Luckily, there’s a harvest festival in practically every region of the Treasure State:
- Kootenai Harvest Festival, Riverfront Park, Libby
Montana Wilderness Association Facebook On September 16, the Montana Wilderness Association will host the third annual Kootenai Harvest Festival at Riverfront Park. Admission is free, and you can enjoy a delicious locally grown dinner for $10. Live music and children’s activities make it fun for the whole family.
- HarvestFest, Downtown Billings
Downtown Billings Facebook On October 14, downtown Billings will welcome fall with their annual HarvestFest at 2nd Ave. and Broadway. Celebrate with arts and crafts, games, fresh produce, pumpkins, pies, live music and plenty of other entertainment.
- Belgrade Fall Festival
Belgrade Chamber of Commerce Facebook On September 16, head to Belgrade for the Fall Festival Parade, which kicks off at 10 AM. They’ll also have food, games for children, and plenty of shopping from local vendors.
- Turner Farms Pumpkin Festival, Missoula

Their Pumpkin Festival, typically held the second week in October, kicks off their annual pumpkin patch activities. The festival includes apple cider pressing, farm animals, pictures, and plenty of pumpkins.
- Townsend Fall Fest
Townsend Fall Fest Facebook Townsend is a small city, but their annual Fall Fest is a really big deal. Celebrate the season with a car show, live music, kids’ activities and a hay sculpting contest. This year’s dates are September 29 - October 1.
- Ronan Harvest Fest
Ronan Harvest Fest Montana Ronan’s annual Harvest Fest is held in mid-September (September 16 this year). The event is planned by the Chamber of Commerce, offering locals a chance to sell their crafts, baked goods, and other things. There is always a chili cook-off, and last year there was a Dutch oven cook-off. In other words, come hungry.
