With the weather cooling down, it’s a perfect time to get outdoors and explore some new trails. You don’t have to travel far to get to beautiful bayou views and cypress-tupelo forests, you just need to know where to look! Here are some of our favorite, lesser known trails near New Orleans.

  1. Bayou Sauvage Ridge Trail

The Naval Ammunition Depot Trail is a 2.5 mile trail that leads to several WWII Ammunition Magazines that are nestled within the forest and are fascinating to see. Located at 449 F. Edward Hebert Blvd. Belle Chasse, LA 70037.
