It has been brought to our attention, dear Coloradans, that WalletHub recently released their list of 2018’s Happiest Cities in America and that NO place in Colorado made the top 50. Weird, right? As a response to the article, we now present you — both WalletHub and Only in Your State reader — with a list of 12 reasons Colorado (and all of its cities/towns) is indeed the happiest place in America:
- Disneyland was modeled after a Colorado town.
Wikimedia Commons You thought Disney was the happiest place on earth? Psh. Did you know that Disneyland’s iconic Main Street U.S.A. was actually modeled after Old Town, Fort Collins, the hometown of Disneyland collaborator (and Hollywood art director) Harper Goff? I guess that just proves that Colorado IS the happiest place on earth!
- Sunny days, sweeping the clouds away.
Wikimedia Commons …can you tell me how to get to Colorado and its average 300 days of sunshine per year?
- Legal weed…

- …craft beer galore…
Flickr/Scott Blackwell I don’t know about you, but a sip or two of one of our local brews can always turn my frown upside down!
- …and SO much yummy food!
Wikimedia Commons Homemade green chile, Palisade peaches, Rocky Mountain Oysters (AKA deep-fried cow you-know-whats)… the gangs all here in the Centennial State.
- Ample outdoor recreation.

- Speaking of outdoor recreation, you will always have the best views in Colorado.
Flickr/Shannon McGee Whether you’re along the Western Slope, Eastern Plains, Front Range, or the Rocky Mountains, you are guaranteed the best exercise amidst the best scenery.
- We know better than to skip the most important meal of the day.
TripAdvisor/Depatadeperro What? You slept in late after a long day of skiing? Don’t sweat it, my friend, as brunch is served until at least 2 pm at most of our iconic eateries. raises mimosa glass I’ll drink to that!
- The job market is hot…
Flickr/Campaign Against Arms Trade Google “Colorado job market” and you will learn that it is not only one of the best in the country, but that some of our entry-level jobs pay up to $90K/year, that Denver is a “millennial hiring paradise,” and that there are no shortage of job opportunities in nearly every field.
- …and so are our residents.
Flickr/Bardia Photography Hey, I don’t make the news; I just report it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
- Finally, Colorado has the most beautiful sunrises…

- …and sunsets.
