A few weeks ago we asked our readers on our Only In Oklahoma Facebook page to name some extremely weird things that only Oklahomans do. We had some crazy fun answers to dig through. For instance, if you live near Oklahoma City and can recite the Christmas commercial from B.C. Clark Jewelers without thinking about the words or the tune, then you’re one of us quirky Okies. Here are a few more we think you’ll enjoy:

  1. We run outside instead of inside when we hear tornado sirens.

  1. We lose our minds and forget how to drive when it snows.

Jan Kromer/Flickr Even rain makes us go completely stupid and forget how to drive.

  1. Gravy, please! It’s an automatic that we ask for gravy with everything we eat.

Jenni Konrad/Flickr It’s so depressing when you travel to other states and you can’t find white gravy to eat with your meal.

  1. We run the heater in the morning and the air conditioning in the afternoon.

Open Grid Scheduler/Flickr We all know we can experience all four seasons within one day.

  1. If we see a storm coming, we run outside and mow the yard before it arrives.

imgflip.com For some reason, we think we are experts at knowing how long we have until the tornado arrives.

  1. We eat ranch with everything.

Kelly Garbato/Flickr Just go out to eat with Okies and you’ll hear at least one person at the table ask for a side of ranch.

  1. We know the joy of Sonic ice.

txflygirl/Flickr We’ve gotten spoiled with our Sonic ice and hate visiting out-of-state restaurants and convenience stores that only have large ice chunks.

  1. We wave at other cars when stopped at a 4-way stop.

Rob/Flickr We are some of the kindest, most polite people you’ll ever meet.

  1. We celebrate the largest fried onion burger in the world every year.

elrenoburgerday/Facebook Kind of quirky, but so delicious and fun!

  1. We call Oklahoma City “The City.”

Paul L. McCloud/Flickr Out-of-towners always have to ask for clarification on this one, but if you’re from around here, you know it means the Capital City.

  1. We eat breakfast food for lunch and dinner.

Corey Harris/Flickr Many restaurants in the Sooner State serve breakfast all day long. It’s normal to eat biscuits and gravy for dinner.

What else would you add to this list? We might do some weird stuff but we wouldn’t have it any other way! It’s funny how it’s so easy to spot a tourist in Oklahoma.Take a look at a few surefire ways to always spot one.
