Some people just don’t get us Pennsylvanians. We are, after all, a pretty unique bunch. We have our own language, which varies depending on in which part of the state we live. We shop at mud sales and 100 mile yard sales. We eat foods like scrapple and shoofly pie. That’s what we love about Pennsylvania. But, all those things we find so endearing? Others might not really like at all. Here are 10 things other people might hate about Pennsylvania but we love:

We not only have all four seasons. We sometimes have them all in one day. Love the cold and snow but really miss spring? Some days we have both seasons in the same day. What more can we ask for?

We have our own sayings - outten the lights and red up - and words that are unique to PA. Pittsburgh even has its own dictionary of Pittsburghese. Visiting PA could become a bit confusing if you don’t know the language.

How many people from out-of-state have wrinkled their nose and asked, “what’s in it?” when you’ve offered them some scrapple? Did they try it? To be fair, others might really not like scrapple, but some of us Pennsylvanians feel the same way.

PA is a pretty diverse state. That includes the places we shop and the words we use. We love that diversity. But, an out-of-towner visiting and not knowing whether to order a soda or a pop might get a bit agitated.
