Last I checked, we Kansans all hate the winter. Anytime you see us post “beautiful” photos of the snow or our kids playing in it, they’re all lies to make you think we’re happy. There’s absolutely nothing good about the snow or cold here in Kansas, and we’re out to prove it. Just in case you were thinking of visiting this state during the winter, we’ve made this list of things to help you see why you definitely shouldn’t. No one really visits Kansas in the winter unless they’re forced to, anyways.

1.First off, you’ll never find anyone outside.

Carlos Hidalgo/Flickr This picture couldn’t have been taken in Kansas, because we all stay inside when it snows.

  1. The whole state just looks awful.

eric wittman/Flickr The bluish glow on that tree? Ugh. Anything else could be prettier.

  1. There’s nothing to do, anyways.

brent flanders/Flickr Who likes exploring frozen waterfalls, anyways? Jeez.

  1. Plus, it makes our sunsets colorless and bland.

Patrick Emerson/Flickr Everything is grey in the winter, and there’s just no color to be found.

  1. You won’t find any wildlife hanging around.

David DeHetre/Flickr Eagles? We don’t get any of those in the winter. What do you mean, winter wildlife?

  1. The snow will ruin every photo you take.

Gary Gamso/Flickr See? This perfectly good photo of a barn was ruined by snow. Isn’t that great.

  1. You’ll never find anywhere romantic for a date.

Luke X. Martin/Flickr What’s romantic about walking hand-in-hand and snuggling close with hot chocolate? Nothing that I can see.

  1. Even the tallest point in Kansas is a wasteland.

Mount Sunflower Facebook Mount Sunflower, completely ruined. Snow just takes away so much from a great photo.

  1. There’s never any baby animals to fawn over.

David DeHetre/Flickr Obviously this adorable cow was photoshopped in, because there’s no way it’s here naturally.

  1. It’s basically neverending, and you’ll never see the sun again.

Patrick Emerson/Flickr Any Kansan knows the skies are always grey, the sun goes away for weeks, and we’re all miserable every winter. It’s pointless to even take your camera outside, because it just looks so bad outside.

While you’re exploring our beautiful state this winter, why not look for some of the 25 miniature Statues of Liberty hiding around?
