Montanans may not be the type to wait two hours to try a trendy new restaurant or Instagram our food (much), but that doesn’t mean we don’t love to eat. In fact, we’re fortunate to live in a state full of so many beloved family restaurants, up-and-coming eateries, and amazing farmers markets.

If you ever have any doubt that Montana is a perfect place for foodies, we’ll give you 10 good reasons to back up our claim.

  1. Our local markets are full of fresh produce and handmade delicacies.

Helena Farmers’ Market Facebook We’re nearing the end of traditional farmers market season, but some, like the Helena Farmers Market, are open almost all year. Missoula even has its own Winter Market.

Cassidy L. / Yelp It makes sense to us: 406 Kitchen & Taproom, Uberbrew, The Fieldhouse, The Burger Dive… we could go on.

  1. Our Mom & Pop restaurants are warm, welcoming, and fill our bellies with home-cooked goodness.

Kim E / TripAdvisor Whitefish’s Buffalo Cafe is wonderful.

  1. And good luck deciding where to go out for a good, hearty breakfast in the Treasure State. It’s one of the things we do best.
