We may be entering into another cold, snowy Montana winter, but that doesn’t mean you can’t dream of all the adventures you’ll take when cabin fever kicks in. The Treasure State is full of so many gems, it would be impossible to see them all. But if you manage to do these 10 in your lifetime, you’re doing pretty well.

  1. Visit Glacier National Park

Cody Wellons / Flickr This is a given, and that’s why it tops the list. Glacier National Park is our greatest treasure, and every Montanan should get to experience it.

  1. Ride Montana’s dinner train

Charlie Russell Chew Choo Dinner Train Facebook The Charlie Russell Chew Choo Dinner Train is a one-of-a-kind experience you’ll only find in Lewistown, Montana. Enjoy a delicious prime rib dinner with a train ride and a Western show.

  1. Go rafting

management / TripAdvisor River rafting might look intimidating, but it’s a whole lot of fun, and Montana’s rivers are perfect. Companies like Wild West Rafting in Gardiner will make sure you’re paired with the perfect guide.

  1. See the Terry Badlands

Bureau of Land Management / Flickr Located just outside the small town of Terry in Eastern Montana, the badlands are a unique part of the state everyone Montanan should see. You won’t find scenery like this anywhere else.

  1. Visit the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument

Jasperdo / Flickr This is a grisly part of our history, but it’s important to see, and the monument is beautiful.

  1. Stand at the top of Bighorn Canyon

Serolynne / Flickr Can you see why this is a must-do? The canyon is incredible.

  1. Spend a day exploring Wild Horse Island on Flathead Lake.

anax44 / Flickr You probably won’t see wild horses (although you might!), but you will see some of the most spectacular views in the state.

  1. Drive Going-to-the-Sun Road

Jeff Hitchcock / Flickr We know this technically counts as going to Glacier, but driving this gorgeous road is an adventure all on its own.

  1. Hike the Mount Aeneas Loop

Jim Handcock / Flickr There are hundreds and hundreds of amazing hikes in Montana. Mount Aeneas is one of the most accessible summits in the state, and parts of the 5.9 mile loop overlook the Jewel Basin.

  1. Take the Gates of the Mountains tour.

Mark Holloway / Flickr Montana’s “Grand Canyon,” located near Helena, is amazing. Check it out.
